The Merapi Alpha code release will begin in about 1 week from today! To help prepare for this (and to support the large audience of people that have contacted us about it), we've launched a Merapi Web site that includes some high-level information for the public, but is intended to be a tool used by the Alpha testing group to get code, report bugs and talk about features and functionality.
After much anticipation, the Merapi core code is about ready for a group of Alpha users to download, bang on, provide feedback about and help us to plan our project development roadmap for Merapi.
Timing is everything, and it just so happens that Merapi's lead Architect, Adam Flater, will be speaking at the WebManiacs Conference in Washington, DC. The conference runs May 18th through the 23rd.
The presentation on Merapi, will be on Wednesday at 2:00 pm and will review Merapi sample applications and Adam will be answering questions regarding the project.
We’ll be entering a private alpha cycle as soon as the WebManiacs conference is over, so this is an exciting time for Merapi! If you have an interest in how to push the boundaries of AIR to extend into Java at the desktop, be sure to come check out Adam's session and be part of things!
We are encouraging the community to get involved and make a request to be a part of the Merapi Alpha.
